It all started with a doodle. I had been working on sketches of the mountains I hike here in Eagle River. I finished a hike with my friend Maggie and I immediately had this idea to copy my sketches on to my pottery. They remind me of the memories that I had created with my friends and family. Then I created more sketches like the cheeky little birds that I encountered on walks, the beautiful flowers that I saw when I was hiking and the fish and game that we harvested for food. Most importantly, my husband says, “The airplane deserves its place on a mug!” I decided to start copying them onto my pottery and as it turns out a lot of other people in this world have similar connections. I keep drawing and carving each piece, painting them and giving them a beautiful food safe finish. I hope you feel a connection to these mugs as much as I do. Each piece is made by hand, carved and carefully painted. — Theresa
